An Open Message to John Green

Dear Mister Green,

I saw you on The Today Show this morning. As difficult as it is now to put my thoughts and feelings into words, I feel obligated to at least try.

I do share the sentiment that the possibility of these attacks is the price of a free society, but that's easy for me to say. I don't share your strength of character. As I sit here typing this, every attempt to put myself in your shoes only leads to grief and horror of the first order.

I think some things happen for a reason, but not everything. The thought that a loved one is in a better place is cold comfort to the loved ones left behind. Please know that there are many of us out here that can't make sense of this tragedy, and I'm not even about to try. No one deserves the pain that you are dealing with, and I hope and pray that you will find the peace you so richly deserve.
